Dear Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity Members,
On behalf of the Knoxville Tourism and Sports Corporation, I’d like to welcome
you to Knoxville and East Tennessee! We’re proud to host the 2010 Southeastern
Regional Convention.
For our visitors who are not from the East Tennessee region, we are especially
excited about your visit. Knoxville is a beautiful town on the banks of the Tennessee
River, surrounded by lakes and nested in the shadows of the Great Smoky
Mountains. I hope during your time with us you’ll have a chance to sample our
excellent art and culture museums, performing arts, one of the Southeast’s top
zoos and historical sites from America’s first frontier and the Civil War.
Folks visiting here can hoop it up at Women’s Basketball Hall of Fame – the only
museum solely dedicated to the accomplishments of women’s basketball, see the
countryside aboard the Three Rivers Rambler train or take a relaxing cruise on the
Star of Knoxville Riverboat. I also hope you’ll visit our downtown Visitor Center to
find the answers to any questions you might have about the area or to find a souvenir
from our gift shop of locally made arts and crafts.
In addition, visitors can enjoy endless shopping in the quaint and unique shops of
the Old City and Market Square districts of downtown. While visiting downtown,
tourists can take in a great concert or show at the Tennessee Theatre, see a movie at
the Regal Riviera or trace their family roots at the East Tennessee History Center.
There’s just an abundance of activity here for you to enjoy! We are unbelievably
excited to host Phi Beta Sigma attendees and those special family members and
friends that accompany them.
So, thank you again for choosing Knoxville as your destination. Enjoy your stay
and come back often!
Warmest regards,
Gloria Ray
